Fashion News : Interview
We sit down with the Assistant manager of
Dianne’s Beachwear,(who prefers to stay anonymous) to get her interpretation on
her experience at the literal “beach heaven boutique”. And also what she sees’s
herself doing in the future. But while we where there we couldn’t help
ourselves but to ask the cool, bubbly, and fun AS about her go to swimwear
piece’s within the company and also got the inside scoop on some of the hottest
bestseller’s at DB.
Q: What brought you to Dianne's
Beachwear?
A: I was down here for
school and I was looking for a job. I love this store, so I turned in a resume.
I’ve been working here for a year and a half. I moved up; got promoted a couple
times so I’ll be here for awhile; I really like it.
Q: Is there anything
that Dianne's Beachwear is working on as a brand?
A: No
Q: Where do you see the
brand in 5 years?
A: Um well
like I said, they started with one store and now I think they have 22 or
something like that. She keeps going she’s got a lot more stores. And they have
a pretty solid website now with online shopping, they have like personal
shoppers on there which is awesome! People love that, so she’s doing great.
Q: Who is the Dianne's
Beachwear girl if you had to describe her?
A: Natasha Oakley
Q: What's your best seller?
A: Moji, it’s a Columbian
line and all of their prints are mixed into each piece which is really cool.
Every single piece is reversible except the ones with the underwire because
that’s uncomfortable. But yeah! It does really, really well at the store too.
They’re really fun. (chuckles).
Q: What do you enjoy
most about your job?
A: I like, it sounds
really corny but I like giving excellent customer service and obviously bathing
suit shopping. It’s not the most fun thing to do, but so many people leave here
really excited and they come in here like dreading it and they go in the
fitting room hating there body and when they leave here their so happy that
they found not 1 suit but 3 suits. They found clothes, cover ups, so its just
like yeah pleasing the customer and making them feel good about there body,
^when they walked in they didn’t.
Q: What are your
responsibilities at Dianne's Beachwear?
A: There’s so many
(chuckles). Sales, keeping the store organized, , keeping our team together,
training the girls on how to meet our store standards and how to have fun but
sale and build a good clientele with our customers too.
Q: What are
some aspirations in fashion or swimwear?
I
love clothes; I never thought I would really be in swim because I always [have
liked] putting outfit together, that kind of thing. I wanted to be a personal
stylist when I was younger, but I can actually do that with swim too. So I
enjoy that a lot.
Zari: Ok so do you see
yourself doing something in fashion or swimwear in the future?
A: Yeah absolutely! Like I
said I didn’t think that it would be specifically swim, but I can see myself
maybe moving up. I would love to move up in corporate with Diane’s Beachwear.
Maybe potentially be a buyer or something corporate. NOT RETAIL (chuckles).
Q: What is your favorite swimsuit and why?
A: My favorite…
we actually don’t carry it at our location. [At] our location in Long Beach we
have […] different clientele than some of the other stores. But my favorite
lines are probably Mikoh or Kesha .The one that we have here that I really like
is L space, it’s kind of a sporty look. The lycra is really really nice which
is what the swimsuit is made out of. I like their cuts an styles and everything
a lot of their bottoms and tops are reversible so it’s like getting two in one
which is awesome.

The entrepreneur Cassandra Kellogg is a woman who wears many hats. Originally from Oregon but born in Napa this beach bum beauty inspiration for fashion and her many jobs comes from her being completely obsessed with her wardrobe since the 5th grade. Cassandra Kellogg is an interior designer, visual designer, stylist, and most popularly known for her sexy swimsuit line Minimale Animale. Ms. Kellogg inspiration for this line also comes from her love and obsession with the beach since her childhood.
